INTERNATIONAL SAUNA SCHOOL

Ärni smoke sauna

Join the First International Sauna School in South Estonia!
Dates:
  • February, 2–8  2026
  • February, 22–28  2026

We are excited to invite participants from around the world to take part in the very first International Sauna School held in South Estonia. This 8-day course offers a unique opportunity to explore and experience the ancient Estonian sauna tradition through both theoretical knowledge and practical practice.

The Sauna School is an experiential training programme that combines traditional knowledge, healing practices, and personal development through the art of sauna keeping. Participants will learn not only how to prepare and maintain a sauna, but also how to guide meaningful sauna experiences for others — connecting body, spirit, and community.

Through this journey, participants explore the roots of sauna culture and its deep connection to nature, respect, and purification. The course introduces both ancient Finno-Ugric and contemporary approaches to sauna rituals, herbal practices, breathwork, and community care.

Why join the Sauna School?

  • Self-development: The programme encourages self-reflection and personal balance. The sauna becomes a space of transformation, where you learn to listen — to yourself, to others, and to nature.
  • Professional pathway: After completing the training, participants can work as sauna keepers, healers, or facilitators of community sauna sessions.
  • Belonging and roots: Wherever you come from, you will gain a deeper understanding of your cultural and natural roots — how ancient traditions can live in modern life.
  • Network: Graduates become part of an international network of sauna keepers and cultural practitioners who exchange knowledge, experiences, and inspiration.

The Sauna School connects people through heat, water, breath, and stories — offering not only skills but a sense of belonging and purpose.

You may choose between two identical courses, and select the one that suits you best:

During the course, you will learn the cultural, spiritual, and practical aspects of saunakeeping. The program combines engaging workshops, hands-on activities, and deep reflection, designed to foster a profound connection with yourself and nature.

My name is Helen Moppel, and I’m a saunawoman — or, as we also say, a saunakeeper. I warmly invite you to join us on this journey into the ancient Estonian sauna tradition. Whether you are a beginner or have some experience, this course is an incredible opportunity to immerse yourself in a deep and healing cultural practice that has nurtured generations.

PS: We are also looking for 1-2 volunteers during the courses. If you're interested in volunteering and being part of this special experience, please get in touch!

Come and discover the timeless art of sauna, and let it inspire, heal, and connect you in ways you never imagined!

You can check out couple of videos of Helen and her students from Estonia and about the Ärni sauna.
